Willard Bay State Park is in Willard, Utah on the eastern shores of Willard Bay and about 15 miles north of Ogden, Utah. The park is on a small stretch of land between I-15 and the bay. Yes, it can be noisy. The State Park offers three campgrounds, two at the North Marina (Cottonwood CG and Willow Creek CG) and one about 8 miles further south at the South Marina. We stayed at the Cottonwood CG and found it a bit noisy from the I-15 traffic but protected with lots of trees. Cottonwood is about 1/4 mile from the bay.
Willard Bay is a man made fresh water reservoir in the Great Salt Lake and offers both fishing and boating and also provides a source of irrigation and drinking water to the area.
Here’s a few views of the bay from the campground sites. It was quite windy out and there were about 7 or 8 kite surfers out enjoying the water and the wind!
Willow Creek CG is right next to Cottonwood and offers dry camping and waterfront sites. The campground is beautiful and has much less noise from I-15. Next time, if there is a next time, we would stay at Willow Creek. This time of year Willow Creek is $15 per night which is $5 less than Cottonwood. A number of sites are right along the water with terrific views, spacious level sites, and trees to offer some protection from the wind. There is even some peak-a-boo views of the mountains to the east and also nice views of the mountains across the water to the west.
