New Frontier RV Park – Winnemucca, Nevada

We left Washoe Lake State Park and drove highway 50 east to Highway 95 north to I-80 to Winnemucca. A nice peaceful drive along some high desert alkaline dry lake beds. Almost feels like Bonneville Flats in some areas. The drive also included lots of ground squirrels running across the road.  We don’t see that when we drive these roads in the winter months. They were acting like they were on a suicide mission. Watch out!

We stayed in Winnemucca a few years ago at the Hi-Desert RV Park which is a KOA affiliation now.  We noticed at that time that there was a new RV Park across the street so this time we decided to try it out.  It was grey and windy and rainy out so we decided to get off the road and wait out the storm. Good thing we did.

RV Park: New Frontier RV Park
Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
Site: B40 (back-in on gravel)
Cost: $34.27
Services: Full Hookups
Comments: A fine RV park for an overnight. It has easy access on/off the I-80 interstate at exit 180 on the east side of town, has a restaurant/casino at the office (walking distance) called Wingers. The sites were clean and neat and the staff was friendly. The site was plenty long for our rig and there was a nice parking area adjacent to each site for the tow vehicle.

The RV Park advertises 100′ pull-thrus, twelve of them, so you don’t have to unhook your tow vehicle. That’s perfect for us for an overnight.  Unfortunately, even though we arrived in the early afternoon their pull-thrus were all reserved that night for a softball game that weekend. Oh well, the back-in worked fine for us. The majority of their sites are back-ins and they also have a Village section of employee trailer housing which was basically empty when we were there.
