Lake Mead National Recreation Area – Stewarts Point

Lake Mead National Recreation Area Stewarts Point Nevada
View of Lake Mead from our site

Another great “free” (after you have paid entrance fees or used your interagency pass) boondocking spot in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is in the very northern part of Lake Mead off of Northshore Road around mile marker 41 on the Overton Arm portion of Lake Mead.  The entrance to Stewarts Point is to the south of Northshore Road and is well signed. You drive the somewhat bumpy dirt road for about 2 miles to a (pit toilet) restroom where there is plenty of room to unhook your tow vehicle and go search for a site.  The majority of the boondocking area is to the south but there are quite a few sites to the north also.  The town of Overton is 15 miles away and Valley of Fire State Park is about 10 miles away.  We quite enjoyed this area, the views, and the solitude.  There were a few other rigs parked in the area but nowhere near the amount found at Government Wash.

We found a site somewhat close to the lake and not too far from the unhook area since we were only staying a few nights. There are much nicer and more secluded sites if you drive a bit further but we still loved our site.

We never tire of the fabulous mountain, water, and both sunrise and sunset views. We could have stayed here quite a bit longer but the road was calling.
