Anza Borrego State Park – Palm Canyon Campground – California

Campground: Anza Borrego State Park – Palm Canyon Campground
Location: Borrego Springs, California
Site: 9
Cost: $30
Services: FHU (now with 50AMP!!!)
Comments:  A great campground inside the state park with great views, easy access to town, and close to hiking trails. AND they have updated their electrical system by upgrading to 50AMP in the full hookup sites.

The campground has also made improvements to sites 52, 51, 50, and 49.  These sites are pull-thru sites now and used to be pull along with the hookups on the passenger side and the area was quite small which meant our slides stuck out in the road. No fun. But now they have improved them and they are now the nicest sites in the campground with great privacy and great views. Note that sites 52 and 49 are handicap access only and another side note, sites 24-29 have hookups on the passenger side. Sites 54-120 are dry camping.

We had a nice rain storm while we were there which certainly cleared the air and gave us that wonderful desert smell of creosote that we love so much. It was wonderful!

We love the Palm Canyon hike which is directly accessible from the campground. It is an easy hike and about 4 miles round trip from our campsite and provides a fun outing with some rock scrambling and stream crossing.

And, as usual, we spent time in town running around and having fun!

And, the big news…….one day after a rainstorm we found an abandoned dog and decided to adopt him. He was partially buried in the sand and was a bit stiff but after a bath and some attention he loosed up a bit. He is dark brown, short lets, not very active, and doesn’t eat very much. He has taken a very prominent position in our RV as he sits on the dashboard while we drive. If anyone knows the owner of the dog please contact us. We have named him Mr. Brown!!
