Arm of Gold Campground – Little Bras d’Or, Nova Scotia

What a fun little campground! I don’t believe I have ever described a campground or RV Park like that before. BUT it was!  We only stayed one night because we were catching the Maritime Atlantic ferry to Newfounland the next day.  This campground is just a few miles from the ferry terminal so it was perfect for spending the night and heading straight to the ferry in the morning.

The staff could not have been more friendly and the campground had a few unique items which we don’t usually see at campgrounds that made it all the more interesting.  It had charm and it had character!

Comments: A beautiful and wonderful campground about 6 km from the Newfoundland ferry. Not only is it beautiful but it is a fun place which is well maintained and great staff. It is located directly off the main road and easy to get in and out of.  Sites are grass and most are fairly level. You can hear the traffic noise from the road but at night it died down. We got to choose our own site and choose one close to everything for convenience.

There were several rows of sites facing different directions with some closer to the road and some with water views.

There is a barn dance hall located on the premises along with a few cabins, a coin operated car or RV wash, propane, a small lighthouse, and colorful Adirondack chairs scattered around the large property which sits right on Lake Bras D’Or (which translates to Golden Arm).

And not to be missed is Winnie’s Wagon. A real chip truck run by the campground and sitting right by the entrance to the campground and is open from 11:30am to 8:30pm. It does a booming local business, the food is terrrific, and the servings are beyond generous. We had fish and chips and it was fantastic and way too much food but we are not complaining. The history of Winnie Cantwell is quite interesting.

We were there on a Saturday night, Prom night, and many of the locals were having their photos taken in the afternoon down by the lake prior to prom. It was a windy day and it was fun to watch the dates all dressed up and heading down to the lake for their photos.
