Meziadin Lake

We drove south on the Cassiar Highway after staying at the Boya Lake Campground and stopped both at Kinaskin Provinical Park for lunch and also at Bell II at the Bell2 Lodge.  A perfect stopping point to stretch your legs and grab a cup of coffee before continuing on to Meziadin. What a beautiful campground along the shores of Lake …

Boya Lake

After leaving the Yukon we headed south on the Cassiar Highway and stopped at beautiful Boya Lake. Again, one of our favorite spots!  A beautiful campground and during the summer it is light so long that is is hard to even think about going to sleep.  The beauty, solitude, and peacefulness surrounds you. We took a hike after 10pm at …

Lake LaBerge

As we headed south from Dawson City on the Klondike Highway we stopped at Tatchun to spend the night. The next day we visited Five Finger Rapids, Montague House, and then on to Lake LaBerge just north of Whitehorse. Of course we had to stop at Lake LaBerge and get out on the shores of the lake and make a …

Dawson City

Dawson City is a fun area to visit with a great town full of wonderful old buildings with lots of history.  Further south is Bonanza Creek where you can do some panning for gold at the KVA free claim #6 and then visit the nearby Dredge #4 which is fantastic to see. We loved our time here and can’t wait …

Top of the World Highway

We drove from Tok, Alaska to Dawson City, Yukon and traveled the “Top of the World” highway.  It is about 127 kilometers long and one of the most northerly highways in the world and is only open in the summer.  As with any northern route be sure to check the highway 511 road conditions to make sure it is in …

Those Young Guys - Alyeska Pipeline

Trans Alaska Pipeline, TAPS (Trans-Alaska Pipeline System), Alaska Pipeline, Alyeska Pipeline, or just The Pipeline, whatever you call it and no matter your thoughts on the subject, it is still great to see in person.  Grab a copy of the Alaska Milepost and check out all the places where you can see the pipeline either while your driving or places …

Denali Highway

Denali Highway! My favorite highway in the world. It runs from Cantwell on the Parks Highway all the way to Paxson on the Richardson Highway. The highway is rarely used today and is gravel and not maintained. It can have extreme washboarding and lots of dust. Take it slow and easy.  There are boondocking spots all along the highway so …

Denali National Park

What can you say about this, it’s Denali! Beautiful scenery and wildlife. The campground is one of many but it is the main one near the entrance of the park. Don’t plan on just driving up and getting a site (although you may be lucky). Reservations certainly help and even then it is difficult. But the bus tour through the …

Byers Campground

Denali State Park is to the east of Denali National Park and runs along the Parks Highway.  It has a few campgrounds and a few trails heads and is beautiful. Many people bypass this park and head straight to the Denali National Park. If you do that then you will miss a wonderful state park.  We stayed at Byers Campground. …
