Motorcycle Ride – Silver City, New Mexico

While staying at City of Rocks State Park we decided to take a motorcycle ride, the long way around, to Silver City. We had heard so much about this town we wanted to visit it and see for ourselves.

We headed the opposite direction when we departed from City of Rocks so that we could ride Hwy 152 over Emory Pass, a much talked about “favorite” of motorcycle enthusiasts. Seriously, check out the curves on this gorgeous road through the beautiful Gila National Forest.

We certainly were not disappointed. It was a beautiful day and made the bike ride perfect. Watch out for cows as you round the bend.

We turned around and rode back, all the way to Silver City. Yes, twice on Hwy 152, it doesn’t get much better.

On the way to Silver City we stopped at the Santa Rita Mine.  Wow, open pit mining is always amazing.

On to Silver City. A cute little town with colorful store fronts and a wonderful park that runs along the river called The Big Ditch, created by a flood along Main Street in 1895. Time for a picnic lunch and some computer/coffee/cookies time at the Internet Cafe.
