Big Bend Of The Colorado State Recreation Area – Laughlin, Nevada

Bullhead City Arizona
View of Bullhead City, Arizona mountains from Laughlin, Nevada

We’re back. Seems like we were just here. Almost 3 months ago we stopped by this beautiful State Park for our first time and fell in love with it. So as we were coming back somewhat near this area we could not resist the chance to spend a few days nestled in the foothills in a nice, spacious campsite with full hookups (laundry and showers), strong internet signal, and loads of free firewood (with a big generous donation).

The campground is first-come first-serve (no reservations) so it can be hit or miss getting a site. It was almost empty when we were here last November but this time, in early February, there were just a few sites left and we arrived just after noon. The park was full a few nights that we were there. But there are other options in the area with other RV Parks, Casinos, and boondocking areas so you aren’t stuck if you can’t get a sight.

Campground:  Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area
Location:  Just south of Laughlin, Nevada
Site:  19 (same as when we were here before)
Cost: $30
Services: FHU
Comments:  We love, love, love this campground and wish all campgrounds were designed like this one. What we really like is the spaciousness and privacy and neatness of the sites.

There are a few hiking trails in the area and a lovely day use area along the Colorado River.

And have I mentioned how large the sites are, here’s an example of one of the sites. They are all pretty much the same size and most are pull-thrus.

The weather was perfect, warm (actually kind of hot) days and warm nights with windows open.  Life is good!
