Off to Sunset Crater National Monument for some cooler temperatures. The Bonito Campground, across from the National Monument Visitor Center, sits in the pines at over 7,000 feet elevation just north of Flagstaff. As we drove into Flagstaff on I-17 we could see a bit of snow still on Humphreys Peak.

Comments: I hate to tell you this but this campground now takes reservations. How cool is that????? We love this place and it is a perfect starting out point for us.
We quite enjoyed this site and since we have stayed at this campground multiple times we have our favorites. But without taking reservations then the “best” sites were hard to get. Not anymore!!
My favorites are site 27 and site 29.
A great campground to escape the summer heat in Phoenix. We stopped at the exit to catch another glimpse of Humphreys Peak. Onward we go!!!
