Lethbridge KOA Journey – Lethbridge, Alberta

We departed Cranbrook on a rainy, cloudy day and drove in constant rain through Fernie, Sparwood, and on over the Crowsnest Pass. We drove past Pass Powderkeg ski area in Frank, Alberta and on past Frank Slide where a catastrophic rockslide occurred in 1903 and killed approximately 90 people.

We eventually arrived in the outskirts of Lethbridge at the KOA Journey tired and our vehicles dripping with water and mud. Again, being a holiday weekend it is nearly impossible to find a site at a campground and doubly difficult to find a site that allows just one night. For a holiday weekend they want you to book 3 nights minimum. Luckily, the KOAs are pretty lenient and we could get one night.

It is a well maintained RV Park on the west side of town along the Oldman River. It sits right off Highway 3 which meant lots and lots of traffic noise when you were outside. Not something we relish!

RV Park: Leithbridge KOA Journey
Location: Lethbridge, Alberta
Site: C52 (pull thru)
Cost: $86.24 (CAD)
Services: FHU (50 AMP)
Comments: A lovely RV park along the banks of the Oldman River. It was fine for an overnight but not a place we would spend anymore time mainly due to the traffic noise on the highway nearby.

Other sites were mainly pull thrus and a number of lovely, spacious, private tent sites along the Oldman River.

We aren’t sure what the Arizona sign was all about but we are very familiar with the big Adirondack Chair that are located at so many RV parks around North America.

There is a short path that leads to the Oldman River where a few people (and/or their dogs) were swimming and enjoying the warm weather.

The RV park had an Ice Cream Social one night. For $5 CAD you could select 3 scoops from 5 different flavors of ice cream with all sorts of various toppings. It was HUGE bowl of ice cream.

A nice enough place for an overnight. AND some great ice cream!!
