Brattleboro North KOA – East Dummerston, Vermont

Again, this time of year it is near to impossible to fine any place to park and sleep in an RV in northern New York, Vermont, or New Hampshire.  Even Walmarts said NO!  State Parks were still closed as were RV parks and other campgrounds. We were just a few days shy of places opening up. We FINALLY found a KOA north of Brattleboro, which was just a bit out of the way, but it was a place to park for the night. So off we went to East Dummerston!

We had to first get through the rest of New York which meant going through Schenectady, Albany, and Troy. Everything seems to be under construction, lots of road work, and tons of traffic. This is the biggest hurdle for us not wanting to travel anywhere on the east coast. BUT to enjoy other areas this is the price you have to pay! Luckily, we had our E-Z Pass and time on our hands.

It wasn’t long before we crossed the border into Vermont and landed in the beautiful area of Bennington, one of my favorites towns in Vermont. We stopped at the Welcome Center and had some of the best coffee we have tasted in a long time.  Too bad we didn’t think to ask them the brand and try to buy some as it was excellent!!  It didn’t take us long to get through southern Vermont with it being so narrow. We drove up into the Green Mountains where all the trees were still bare and it felt like winter but at least the ski resorts weren’t open!!

East Dummerston is just a few minutes north of Brattleboro and was very easy to get to.

RV Park: Brattleboro North KOA
Location: East Dummerston, Vermont (just north of Brattleboro)
Site: B30 (pull thru)
Cost: $47.15 (includes tax)
Services: FHU
Comments: An OK RV park and basically the only RV park and/or campground we could find open between central New York and Manchester, New Hampshire in early May. State parks in Vermont and New Hampshire had not opened yet so it was this or keep driving.

The RV park is a typical KOA with plenty of pull thru sites and a few cabin rentals. This KOA even had a few retro trailer rentals.  The owner, Kat, was nice and friendly and very accommodating.
