Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area – Laughlin, Nevada

Welcome to Laughlin, Nevada – One of the lowest-lying communities in Nevada

Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area sits on the Colorado River across from Bullhead City, Arizona. The campground has 24 sites with full hook-ups and is first come first serve. We love this campground.

Comments: We love, love, love this campground and wish all campgrounds were designed like this one. What we really like is the spaciousness, privacy, neatness of the sites, fabulous views, access to the river, and great cell phone reception.

The recreation area has 2 miles of sandy beach along the Colorado River which is the day use area with picnic tables and shade ramadas.

There WAS a large forested sandy area between the campground and the day use area that we used to hike through. Sadly in Aug 2019 a wildfire came through and burned about 100 acres. Obviously, the area is now much more open and offers more views from the campground across east to Bullhead City. It is so sad to see the fire damage.

As we walked around the campground we noticed a few new sites (maybe 8?) on the south side of the campground with a different entrance. We could not find out any information about this area but most of sites appear to be for tents but we did see one for RVs. They are unpaved and without shade ramadas and unsure of the hookups. Maybe an overflow area?

We still enjoy this campground, love sitting outside and enjoying the scenery, and hope to return soon.
