We are off to Kanab! We drove north through Flagstaff and stopped for lunch at Wupatki Ruins turnoff with the snow covered Mt Humphreys in the distance. We continued on to Page and west through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, one of my favorite places.
Our goal was to pick up an overnight permit at Paria Contact station and spend the night in a dispersed camping area along the way. Two problems, one is that their office closes at 3:30pm and we were there around 4pm. AND it was so stinking hot we thought we would probably prefer some electricity for running the A/C. So a last minute decision was made to stay at Grand Plateau RV Resort where we have stayed before.
RV Park: Grand Plateau RV Resort
Location: Kanab, Utah (3.5 miles east of town on the north side of Highway 89)
Site: M29 (pull thru)
Cost: $71.68
Services: FHU
Comments: A lovely RV park with large pull thrus and easy access from the highway.
The RV Park is very quiet at night, with little to no noise of the traffic on the nearby road. We even saw a rig similar to ours parked there but never saw the owners to talk to them.
It was a quick overnight but a lovely evening and a lovely sunset.
