We departed southern Idaho and headed north on I-15 going over Monida Pass which sits at about 6,870 feet elevation along the Continental Divide. The pass divides Idaho and Montana. We started to see snow not only in the mountains but along the side of the road. It is May and the snow is still around.
Just after the pass sits Lima, Montana which is a small community just north of Monida Pass by about 15 miles. There are a few cafes, gas stations, and a nice rest area.
We continued on to I-90 and headed west to Garrison and on to Bernie and Sharon’s Riverfront RV Park. The park was purchased by Bernie and Sharon Schillo in 1991. We were greeted at the entrance by two people in golf carts that quickly choose a site for us and then escorted us to the site. Sharon came by later for payment.
RV Park: Bernie and Sharon’s Riverfront RV Park
Location: Garrison, Montana
Site: 47 (pull thru)
Cost: $35.96
Services: FHU (but we only used electric so they charged us accordingly – thank you)
Comments: A quaint, charming RV park with lots of personal attention and a great backstory. It is easy on and easy off I-90 and little to no highway noise at night.
The park sits on 20 acres and has both pull thrus and back-ins.. They have limited the number of RV sites to 50 to allow plenty of open grassy areas.
The park has a variety of interesting artifacts scattered about, lots of trees, and lots of open grass along with ducks and chickens running around. It is crucial that you keep your dog on a leash.
Bernie and Sharon starting hosting non-denominational church services in 2002 in the RV office building and then built their own chapel a few years later. The chapel conducts weekly services and monthly potlucks and is open to the public. It is a beautiful chapel with a dining room and a full kitchen.
The office/game room is also open and contains games, piano, kitchen, and mailroom.
The area around the park also has some old vehicles which are fun to look at and admire.
The RV park is lovely and we would certainly return if we were in the area.
